Grace Sparkes House - Marystown, NL

rcs construction is proud to announce the completion of a meaningful and impactful project in Marystown, Newfoundland and Labrador—a new, purpose-built women’s shelter that will serve as a safe haven for women and children in need, the Grace Sparkes House.

Established in 2000, the shelter is a registered non-profit charity committed to providing a secure and supportive environment for those fleeing domestic violence and crisis situations. The newly constructed facility, built on a durable slab-on-grade foundation with a wood frame structure, enhances the shelter’s ability to deliver critical services to the community.

The modern, thoughtfully designed building includes 10 private rooms with a total of 20 beds. Each wing is equipped with laundry facilities, and guests will benefit from both in-suite kitchenettes and a communal kitchen to support independent living and shared experiences. A fenced-in outdoor courtyard offers a secure space for relaxation and healing.

Recognizing the importance of safety, the shelter features comprehensive security measures, including staff-monitored surveillance cameras, deadbolts, and keycard entry systems—ensuring residents feel protected at all times.

For rcs construction, this was more than just another project, it was an opportunity to contribute to a cause that matters. The new shelter stands as a testament to community collaboration, compassion, and the belief that every individual deserves a safe place to call home.
