Walmart Charlottetown had an aggressive 16-week schedule to achieve substantial completion. The project had daytime and nighttime site supers as it was a 24-hour project. Any work inside the store had to be completed at night so store operations would not be affected.
Some of the major components of the project on the interior were complete repainting of the interior walls, removing all VCT flooring, grinding and polishing the concrete floor, relocating of all shelving in all departments and a total gut and refinishing of all washrooms. All the refreshed departments received new FRP wall finishes and had aging equipment replaced. The refrigeration cases were 50% replaced and the other 50% were reskinned, cleaned, and refurbished to new condition. The interior also received the updated Walmart Décor Package. The exterior received all new paint, new Stucco finish at the entrance, and all new signage.
With 85% of the work having to be completed at night this was an extremely challenging project that met the schedule due to a strong commitment from all the trades involved.
