This project consists of two 10-unit modular apartment buildings that are part of the NB government affordable living initiative. Each building consists of 12 modules that were fully constructed off site at the Kent Home Plant in Bouctouche, NB. Once the foundations were in place the modules were transported to site. All modules were unloaded and stacked together in a single 10-hour shift. Once the modules were in place our carpentry crews installed the trusses, roof sheathing, shingles and siding to complete the exterior.
The interior of the apartment units were finished off site; they arrived on site with drywall and painting completed. The kitchen cabinets and washroom fixtures were also installed. Our trades are responsible for doing all electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and finishes in the basement, common hallways and stairwells to interconnect the prefinished modules.
This mode of construction cuts down on the amount of time needed on site and will be the way multi-unit construction will go in the future.
