Where Construction Meets Compassion: The New Ronald McDonald House Charities Atlantic

Truly what could be described as a transformative project on so many levels for rcs is now open. rcs has always been proud of their commitment to community and charity and our involvement as Construction Manager of the new facility is a testament to that. The 36-bed home to families who have seriously ill or injured children was a replacement for the original, 10-unit facility that was previously home to Ronald McDonald House. The new 46,000 sq ft House features private family suites with kitchenettes and living areas, communal kitchens and dining spaces, recreation and fitness areas, a rooftop play area, many individual rooms providing multiple spaces for learning and play as well as administrative offices for RMHC Atlantic staff. So much of what rcs represents was embodied in this project.

  • it represents rcs’ commitment to charity and community.
  • it was rcs’ first ‘Gold Seal’ designated project, which is a program that we embrace as part of our partnership with both the Nova Scotia Construction Association and the Canadian Construction Association.
  • Our role as Construction Manager let us work better together in partnership with the design team led by Lydon Lynch, the owner’s representative, Catalyst Consulting Engineers and of course the owners, Ronald McDonald House.

Truly a great experience for the rcs team, we are proud to have been able to be a part of this wonderful and important project.
